It is ! This was the weekend of the Dutch Open Darts tournament and it's Superbowl Sunday. The Dutch Open is the biggest darts-tournament in the world, with it's 3000+ competitors. And tonight, John Greatbatch wrote history - repeating American Paul Lim - by throwing an exeptional 9-darts finish in the final of this tournament !!! Aforementioned Paul Lim did it during the Embassy a few years ago and became famous. The prize-money on this years Embassy for a 9-darts finish was 50,000 Pounds, which was 2,000 Pounds more than the winner got. The prize for such an accomplishment on the Dutch Open ? Eternal fame, no more, no less ...
If you want to throw one - down from 501 to zero, ending with a double - too, you'd better start practising on your triple 20's. This is how John did it:
triple 20, triple 20, triple 20 = 180, leaving 321 triple 20, triple 20, triple 20 = 180, leaving 141 triple 20, triple 15, double 18 = 141 !!!!
And later tonight, I'll join you yankees in watching the Superbowl. Kick-off is at 00:00 CET, I presume ? Have fun, whichever team you're supporting !!!
