Well if you don't like such a good cause, God knows what you guys would think about Pink Floyd's other charitable efforts.
Amnesty International, Greenpeace, War On Want....
Euuurrrrggghhh, what pink communists they are

I like this idea of taking measures to balance carbon budgets to zero net growth (or as close as possible) to offset manufacturing. It's nice to see someone doing something positive instead of just bickering about global warming. However limited its effect is immediately, it's certainly a step in the right direction. I hope they pick trees to create a natural species composition, rather than just fast growers that will quickly sequester carbon (but less in the long run).
Now, if we could just get people to balance their nitrogen and phosphorus budgets too...

Yeah but when the message is sent that more can be planted anyway,, ,It kind of makes you wonder how much emphasis is then put on preserving older natural systems of ecology.
It has nothing whatsoever to do with aesthetics, , pretty woods or whatever , , ,I also see things here in the U.K. like project eden and it makes me want to puke.
A human is a human. We are in an age where life is cheap.
Yeah its true, and it is a good solution for balancing out carbon dioxide levels, , ,Its actually carbon monoxide that we have to worry more about. I'm sorry but trees just don't breath in carbon monoxide and give us lovely oxygen in return. For any planting schemes, we should be looking at doing this in urbanised environments, and leave the wilderness to sort itself out.

Now come, come....
The Eden Project is a whole different kettle of fish from the Pink Floyd Forests.
Yes, I have some sympathy with the view that the falseness of the Eden Project is problematic and potentially harmful, but in terms of a technical achievement and a living experiment it is quite something.

You miss my point...If that's what they want to do, plant trees, that's great. But most musicians being conscious of the enviornment and versed in the benefits and uses of hemp, which is a quicker renewable resource than trees, especially for making paper, I'm surprised nobody's taken that route yet. Chop down less trees in the first place, there's less you have to re-plant.
