This sound really interesting - Studio Guitar Secrets - Making Guitar Your Career - I read some of the exerpts and if nothing else - it seem’s to be very very interesting. Check it out.

This is going to be short and sweet -

check out a new guitar repair site called repair my guitar that Jon from guitar noize wrote about. Basically it is a guitar repair shop directory, at this point covering U.S and Canada, with the U.K as the latest addition.

Although, in all fairness, I must say that I would rather have my guitar fixed by someone that was recommended to me personally.

Happy Holidays Y’all!

We were pirates

I think that This is a great picture and one  that will go well with my Happy Holiday greetings to you all.

Weather you are Christams or Hanuka or Ramadan people , I wish you well, and Happy holidays and of couse a fantabulous new year  filled with everything you could possibly wish for yourselves.

And of course a whole lot of music.

We Were Pirates Just released a new Christmas song that is if nothing else very sweet  - Merry Christmas

and will probably get a lot of air time from now on out every Christmas.

We Were Pirates is pretty much a one man band, compromising of Mike Boggs. His wife Lisa Boggs took this great picture, which I could look at for hours and still be amused.

Guitar Campfire Stories

guitarHave you ever been over to The One that got Away? Well, if you haven’t you should. It is a different kind of guitar blog, Telling the stories of People and their guitars and gear.
Kinda like sports stories, or girl conquest stories - except about guitars.
Some of the Stories are by Jamie, the Blogger who says about himself “I don’t collect guitars… I accumulate them”.
The latest story he has posted is about a Fender Musicmaster 1973, traded in 1978 for a pool table…. and since has been sitting in the corner closet.
I had to laugh at this, because it really reminded me of my own guitar owning experience - (that was short lived… being the type of person who has always been very into music and musicians but not very good at either herself)
Anyway, my guitar, that I got for my 12th birthday, ended up with one of my high school Friends, (who still has it I’m not saying how many years later) who was, as apposed to me, a brilliantly talented guitar player who broke his own and couldn’t at the time afford a new one.
My Mom still asks me, All these years later, whatever became of the guitar (and we are talking about many many years later. many.) I can only grin happily to myself, knowing that my guitar ended up in the hands of a boy, now man who is a professional recording guitar player (obviously he has a much better guitar now, or several…)
Anyway, pop over to TOTGA and check it out. Maybe you have a suitable story to submit.

Saffire The Uppity Blues Women

Thumberella pointed me to a site called I get Blues, which is quite a trip for any blues lover.
Of course they sell blues related stuff there, but also have some pretty amusing things that you can play around with, like picking which shade of blue you are (I tried all 9 and found out I was multi toned…) they have one track there from my college days, that I used to love, from the Uppity Blues Women. I was quite overjoyed to find it because their name had slipped my mind and I had quite given up hope of ever hearing them again..anyway, if you have time to burn or if you want to look for some good blues this would be a good place to start.

These women are incredible. I want to be them (in my own way ;-))

Heres to the inspration of elders

Short update - I found their own website, and unfortunately they will be releasing one last record this comming January and then, after 25 years together, are going to go there seperate ways  to be, as the so charmingly put it - musicaly premiscuous.

Anyway, the song that has been stuck in my head for that last 15 years is Shake the dew of the lily here for your enjoyment.
