Gilmour plays again (and not just on the 22nd, either)

Indeed, it's true. As predicted a few months ago, Gilmour is set to join a cast of...well, rather a lot in the Leiber and Stoller tribute show on the 29th June at the Hammersmith Apollo (or London Apollo Hammersmith, as they insist). Ben E King, Bob Geldof, Chris Rea, Edwin Starr, Keith Emerson, Leo Sayer, Paul Carrack, Steve Harley, Tom Jones and Meat Loaf, amongst others, are all expected to turn up. And don't worry if you're a Sam Brown fan; she's there too. Along with the musicians there's also the likes of John Altman, Brian Conley, Kenny Lynch, Melanie Stace, Barry McGuigan, Jimmy Tarbuck and Neil Morrisey. For those of you across the water for whom those names mean nothing, they're the very definition of a seasonal pantomime cast. But never mind. If that's the trade-off for having Gilmour, I'm sure we can live with it.

Well, you know how it is. You get older, you have to slow down...

But anyway. I have it on good authority that the tribute show will be filmed too, so we can all see just how badly time has ravaged the poor sod since his guest slot with McCartney. Whether it will in fact be broadcast by anybody in either of its planned 60 or 90 minute edits remains to be seen, because the bloody thing hasn't even happened yet. Obviously.
