Judge for yourself, I am sitting in here reading amp-f and surfing. Kids coming running into the living room screaming and laughing! It seems our cat, Syd (yes that's right as in Barrett), got up onto the toilet and used it . .my five year old flushed and starting laughing hysterically!

I just ask my oldest daughter if so wanted to try to milk her now, the cat that is!

That Darn Cat!

-Jeff

PS This may seem a joke, but it is the truth. I just wonder if she will do it again?!

You'd better hope so. Give her a treat if she does, and try to do it right afterwards so she associates the reward with the action. Some people go to a great deal of trouble and expense to toilet-train their cats.

One more reason to keep her around then! First being her name, wife named her that for me. I used to try to fight to name the animals when we got them, on the last couple I gave up. So it was to my surprise when she told me what they named her! I thought they were 'joking' about it until they started calling her that, may not sound like a big deal . .but come on . .you guys know how much I love Syd! TDM, HO, TDM2 should speak volumes.

Actually she is a god cat, has a great/funny personality. She actually talks to you (not that you can understand her), tells you when she is hungry or thirsty. She will not drunk out of her dish, we have to give her water in a cup. She has her own tumbler, I always hated cats until this one. I was always a dog lover. Oh well . . .Shine On You Crazy Kitty . .

Hm, would a spell checkactually tell you that 'drunk' is wrong? After all it is a proper English word, spelled perfectly alright. So your spell checker would have to be quite sophisticated to catch that.

Well, i'm no raf, but the way i have seen cats trained is to put the litter box on top the toilet, then cut a hole in the middle (small hole), gradually a bigger one until finally you take it away (over a period of maybe 1-2 months) and hopefully she will get the idea.

As Raf said, treats can't hurt if given at the right times.

The way Mike describes the basic process is correct. Before you can even get a typical cat to sit on the toilet, though, you have to gradually (over a period of a few weeks) move the litter box progressively closer to the tank, and then when it's as near as it can get you have to progressively raise it higher until it's at seat level.

Once the cat is used to using the box on top of the toilet, you can do what Mike described. Or, you can also set up a more complicated system using plastic sheets stretched over the toilet bowl with decreasing amounts of litter in them, and at the end you take away the sheet altogether. There are also kits you can buy that do the same thing
