npfr! Ski holiday

So, I was away for a week skiing and attempting to snowboard. Did I miss anything? Better yet, anyone miss me? (Bet I know the answer to that one ;o)

Well, considering it's the 21st century, yep. I haven't seen this much snow down here in the city in YEARS. I've been off work for two days, and remember: this is Denver - we're used to snow. If they closed my office down for two days, it's A LOT OF SNOW. They're closing the State Capitol for the first time in history. They're saying we got two feet, and I believe it. It rocks, 'specially since I have two sons and two shovels. I think this might be a drought-breaker.

I took my daughter (believe me, it was for her) to see Cher Monday night and they said they cancelled because of a power failure, which I saw absolutely no evidence of. Frankly, I think the old bag saw the weather forecast and never came to town. By the way, if you're gay and looking for something to do, go see Cher. The straights were probably outnumbered. I didn't know she was so big with the gays. Why is that? Is it her daughter? What did she expect, naming her Chastity? Is it the gowns? If so, why were there so many butch lesbians there?

I think her songs remix well for gay clubs, honestly. My old manager was gay, and he spun on Friday nights at a club downtown, and he was always listening to Cher and stuff like it.

Of course, maybe that was just him. (my manger)

I could get all bristly and say that that's a stereotype, but I'd be lying. A large number of gay men do in fact love disco and dance-club mixes, especially of songs performed by 'divas'. I know some who don't even go out dancing anymore but whose home listening is still pretty much restricted to that kind of stuff.

I suspect that, at least in part, many gays listen to dance music because that's what people expect them to do. Stereotypes can be as much self-fulfilled as they are imposed. (*me opens closet, gazes at all the 501s and leather stuff, and sighs*)

Yeah, but the ones WE use would not excite you.
