Kickass!

I have seen them listed on harmony central for a touch more, but to be able to play through one first, and have it rock, and have it over 50% off the original sticker, be able to walk out with it and not worry about shipping or an escrow service... not bad!

I'm trying to track down a nice Classic 50 preferably the 2x12, but would settle for the 4x10, i have a few potentials, i saw one on e-bay that the guy mis-listed as 'peavy' instead of 'peavey' it ended earlier today and had a final price of $225 or there abouts, not including shipping. There were no comments as to what condition the amp was in, other than it was missing one of the plastic knobs. I know i probably could have taken for granted that it worked, but it is e-bay, and he never responded to my e-mails about it, so either i missed out, or someone is getting screwed.

I suppose hitting the pawn shops couldn't hurt either.

Congrats on the find, hope you have it a long time!

Pawn shops are sweet finds at times. I picked up an old Boss Chorus, same as Gilmour's, for $30.00. A brand new Boss Metal Zone pedal, still in the box, for $20.00! The aforementioned Boogie was the best deal without a doubt, but this will do nicely! Not that I am a big fan of it now, but with the DG20 and the amp I can replicate Eddie's 'You Really Got Me' tone to the tee. That was the shit back in the mid eighties to sound like. My preference though is to back off the gain to 5 and the main to 1, now that is a great sound!

Back in 1987 I had a Peavey Classic with the 4 X 10's it was a great amp, used to set the phase at zero to get a little more bite from it. The other guitarist went and bought one after I had mine. I seem to remember it having that factory 38 Special tone. Hey we called ourselves 'Thrax Pirate' ha ha ha . .almost sounds as dorky as iBn Toad!

The DG20's and the 5150 will be featured on the project (Floyd cover) we are currently working on, 'You Know I'm Right'.

It should be available towrds the mid part of summer. Favorite solo Gilmour piece.

There are some classic 50 here for a descent price, but then again there are the shipping concerns.

i think i'm just going to go with one from the classifieds at harmony central and use an escrow mediator service

I don't think that'll be a problem, most get listed at about $350, can probably talk the guy into at least chipping in for half shipping/escrow fee.

Until then, the little solid state Crate is going to have to cut it
