No matter whether you are pro-war or anti-war, I would like to ask everyone to pray for the safe return of the soldiers fighting and the Iraqi citizens. May as few of them die as possible. Hopefully todays news reports that a lot of the Iraqi army is ready to surrender is true. That would lead to fewer casulties on both sides. Even though it is very wishful thinking, I hope the only people that die in this war are Saddam and his close friends, party members that are just as evil as he is.

amen brother.

now that it's painfully *obvious* our loved ones are going go war, we need to support them- whether we agree or disagree with why we're fighting.

our soldiers are there to protect us.

we ned to support *them* right now.

With war imminent I hope too that as few people get killed as possible, and that includes the Iraqi army, many of whom are conscripts. But do not wish that Saddam, his family or cohorts get killed either. My own bit of wishful thinking would be he is brought to The Hague like Milosevic. But anyway. Let's just hope that bloodshed is minimised.

As John Denham (a British politicain who resigned from his govt job over the Iraq policy) put it - by going to war in the first place we may have let the soldiers down, but we can be sure they will not let us down.

As someone who is totally opposed to the war, that is a good way of putting it. I wish them well and hope they survive this shoddy war.

Nah. While the vengeful side of me would prefer to see his dead carcass hung up by its heels by his countrymen a la Mussolini, I think it would be harsher in his special case for us to capture him, give him a military tribunal, then place him on an island, much as Europe did to Napoleon. He would be reduced, not martyred in the twisted logic of middle eastern fanaticism. Now, _that_ would be justice.

I saw BBC World interviewing an elderly politicion shortly after the vote. Could hardly 'understand' (his English) though . He seemed very agitated and could hardly keep his countenance but he managed. Could that be him? Admiration, for my part.
