Hello,
I've only recently tried playing this synching of DSOTM and TWOZ. I've looked on the web and not found my concerns addressed.
The synchs don't really match up, as described on that web site that lists a large number of them (Dark Side of The Rainbow or another one). I wonder if the list of them would occur on one playing or if people have contributed various ones from a number of different playings.
I used a copy of The Wizard of Oz which was released in 1999, new digitally remastered. It seems that the video goes faster than it should. In Australia on the PAL system videos/television play at 25 frames per second, and this is actually a speed up of the standard film speed of 24 frames per second. I don't know what happens in America, they have a standard speed of 30 frames per second on television (NTSC, 'not the same color twice'

I believe which would be obviously too fast if used directly, so something else is going on there.
I find that it works best by re-synching the CD as the film goes along. First at the start, and Dorothy falls off the fence just as the lyrics refer to death. The synch is completely lost when Time starts. The clocks *start* as the woman gets off the bicycle. I resynch the appearance of the bicycle about a second or so after the clocks start. Still the synchs as described almost don't make it as the dog jumps out of the basket and so forth. Again I manually re-synch as Dorothy picks up the basket for The Great Gig in the Sky, still the tree has fallen over before the drum beat. I resynch again at the start of Money and Dorothy walking into Oz. The list mentions that the vocals sing 'Us..Us. etc' as the ballerinas come out which is not at all what I find, but the music tends to follow the action quite okay. The three tough midgets all dance to the vocals I find, quite uncannily with the rhythm. After this all synching as described is gone. Except the lyrics about 'which is which' come out at you. I'm still not sure where Any Colour You Like is supposed to start. The Scarecrow's dancing seems to occur before Braindamage starts.
The listening to the heartbeat at the end still occurs too soon. I found an interesting thing with Animals. I start Animals a few seconds after the listening scene. There is a bit in Wizard of Oz where the witch writes Surrender in the sky. This happens just as there is a significant change in the music and seems in synch quite well from there for a while.
I am wondering if the video speed matter is really what makes it different for me than described. Even with no synching as listed there is still a kind of matching of the music with the movie.
